How would you, an adult of voting age, like to enjoy the freedom to possess up to an ounce of marijuana without legal charge?
I would suspect the majority of you would agree that IT’S ABOUT TIME! Digressing…. Check out the CNN video and judge for yourself.
I think the State of California is about to wise up to the fact that this prohibition is costly in ways it is only beginning to see. It can profit from the taxation of legal marijuana, free up and save countless tax dollars on its overpopulated for profit penal system. It’s a win, win for the State. Plus they are going to need that jail space folks. With the gangs and cartels coming up from the south, California needs to be better prepared in this area and free up a good segment of its citizenry. Allow the families torn apart by this evil War On Drugs to be reunited and lets target the truth behind this issue we find ourselves in!
Unfortunately the violence is already creeping over the border. Today alone there is this article in the headlines “Federal alert: Crime gang may target Texas police”. It will spread. The southern border region will flame up and down as the tit for tat retribution between law enforcement and the gangs/cartels continue to escalate. Legalizing the gangs and cartels main form of revenue is the ONLY way to make them powerless to continue. Even that will not win the war overnight! They will bleed out slowly as they loose control of their power structure. Unable to throw the money around they will wither and die in this arena. Mind you they will attempt to adapt, but that battle is for another day.
Boy could I go on… My apologies…Here’s the original CNN video on legalizing marijuana.
Yes folks, as a Medical Marijuana Patient you have the right to change your caregiver whenever you choose. If your not happy with your current caregiver for some reason it is in your right to update the caregiver information with the State of Colorado.
Should you wish to change your caregiver, or decide to have no caregiver at all, all you need to do is submit to CDPHE a completed, signed, and notarized Change of Address or Caregiver form which you can find here. The registry no longer sends a letter to the caregiver confirming that the patient has made such a change, so its important to let your previous caregiver know about this action.
Ok, so the headline reads better than the letter actually is, but hey at least they sent one in and went on record. What the heck am I talking about?
Well, it appears that Colorado lawmakers have taken it upon themselves to send a very nice and friendly letter asking that the DEA stop its incessant raids on Medical Marijuana growers. They specifically make reference of the difference between recreational use and medical. The DEA could very easily check addresses before raids. Make sure a location is for medical purposes.
Anyways, read it for yourselves. I do appreciate the efforts of lawmakers who supported and created this open letter to the Attorney General.
Dear Attorney General Holder,
As you know, the Colorado General Assembly is currently considering several bills designed to establish a legal framework to effectively regulate medical marijuana. Federal DEA raids of medical marijuana businesses, however, are complicating our legislative efforts.
While we realize it is unrealistic — and frankly unwise — to ask the Justice Department to suspend investigation or prosecution of those engaged in the trafficking and distribution of “recreational” marijuana, we hope you will consider imposing a moratorium on medical marijuana sector raids. These raids discourage dispensary operators, caregivers, growers and patients from providing testimony or recommendations to state lawmakers, hampering our ability to develop a workable and realistic regulatory arrangement for medical marijuana.
Again, we strongly support the efforts of state and federal law enforcement as they investigate, arrest, and prosecute the violent gangs and other criminal enterprises engaged in the illegitimate importation, production, and distribution of black market drugs. However, we believe it is a mistake to put the activities of the legitimate medical marijuana community in the same category as these criminal conglomerates.
We appreciate the Administration’s recognition of the very complex waters we are attempting to navigate between the Colorado Constitution and federal drug policy, and ask for your patience as we attempt to find that rational middle ground.
Thank you in advance for your assistance, and we look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Chris Romer
